“This is a really lovely cottage set in beautiful countryside. The view from the patio is bucolic. There is wildlife on the door step (a real variety of small birds in the copse in front), horses in the surrounding fields, footpaths accessible from the patio. We'd definitely come back.”

If you go down to the Woods today…

There have been reported sightings of monsters in the British countryside for many years. There is a giant dinosaur-type beast that makes life hell for canoeists on Loch Ness in Scotland, and there are reportedly families of crocodiles living happily in our rivers after the Victorians kept them as pets and then chucked them down the nearest drain when they got too big. Except that no one has ever actually seen one. And then there is the Beast of Bodmin. This big cat has terrorised farmers in Devon & Cornwall for years feasting on their sheep at Christmas and making off with prize chickens on Sundays. Things got so bad in 1995 the Government had to launch an enquiry; they spent millions on surveillance all across the region, but the net result was the arrest of a cat called Reg near Sidmouth - but he had to be released due to insufficient evidence. It has been quiet for a few years now but no-one is under any illusions…
